Security Light Nudes
Photography In The Darkness
Sometimes I’m asked, “What causes you to do nude photography?” Well that’s a question with many potential answers, but in a nutshell, “When I’m feeling the passion of capturing the female form in her natural beauty.” I say this because I’m a firm believer that we all like being appreciated in some form and sometimes my method of accomplishing this is through photography—giving pleasure out of pleasing, and in my case, through my camera by the images that I capture of an individual.
These “moments of passion” come at crazy times, and in the case of these images, it came in the middle of the night the day before one of my photography workshops in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I was staying at a well-known photographer’s house when one of my regular models, Raven, showed up. I’d worked with her before and I was sitting outside near the pool and deck when she arrived. The whole time I was sitting there, I was noticing all the light provided by the pool area and the outdoor security lights.
My host, “Wojtek Wojdynski” a well known fine-art photographer in the area, and I were discussing my Canon 85mm F/1.2L USM lens verses his Nikon 85mm F/1.4 lens. Long before I wrote the article, “Nikon 85mm Verses Canon 85mm, F/1.4 or F/1.2?” our discussions were a friendly banter of why my lens was better than his—so as Raven walked in, I asked her, “Would you like to shoot some editorial nude photography outdoors?” She replied, “Sure, you know me Rolando, anytime you want to shoot.”
